Interesting here that while he ran for President, he separated himself from his Muslim roots and past. Now that our President has the power to "change" this world, he embraces those very Muslim roots and past.
CNN published an article revealing this today as our Commander and Chief addressed the Islamic world in a speech to the Turkish Parliament this week. Mixed in with words of apology for our actions across the world in recent years under the Bush administration, he then "identified" himself as a close friend to the Muslim word.
"My job is to communicate the fact that the United States has a stake in the well-being of the Muslim world, that the language we use has to be a language of respect," Obama said in a January interview with Al-Arabiya television network. "I have Muslim members of my family. I have lived in Muslim countries."
My question here is, "Why Mr. President the big distancing act from Islam during the election if you feel such a closeness to it now?"
Its interesting to see here too the distancing from our long time ally Israel especially in the support of Iran's nuclear ambition even though it establishes a threat to Israel's safety in the region.
In the Washington Post today President Obama said that, "Without going into specifics, what I do believe is that Iran has legitimate energy concerns, legitimate aspirations. On the other hand, the international community has a very real interest in preventing a nuclear arms race in the region,"
What is frightening here is that either our President is showing his ignorance concerning the hate that has been coming from the current leadership in Iran toward the nation of Israel, or he simply doesn't care that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for the destruction of Israel.
If history has shown us time and time again, its that a weak world leader accomplishes nothing except emboldening potential enemies, and loss of respect from established allies.
I can only hope that President Obama will change his course and recognise that the United States needs to continue to be the leader of freedom in this world. We have a true and righteous cause to defend and uphold. I don't believe that we are in a position where we need to apologise for the defense of freedom, liberation of countries from tyranny, or the feeding of the world.
As Americans let's stopped being ashamed of who we are and remember that we are privileged to live in the greatest nation that has ever existed and thank God for those freedoms we enjoy daily and not take them for granted.
